How To Reverse Hypnosis – A Proven Strategy

Key Takeaways

  • Hypnosis can reversed by any certified clinical hypnotherapist.
  • Sometimes, reverse hypnosis is needed to undo hypnotic suggestions that your subconscious mind has taken as fact.
  • Hypnosis can sometimes by reversed in one hypnotherapy session, although a more powerful hypnotic suggestion may take several sessions to override.

Your everyday existence is powerfully affected by your own thoughts and beliefs about your capabilities, your relationships, and the world around you.

Negative hypnosis can develop disempowering beliefs in an individual and lead to roadblocks in a destructive life instead of a fulfilling and successful life.

You can search the origins of these beliefs in a session with a hypnotherapist.

Hypnotic suggestions can be picked up by ideas unquestioningly accepted by others or by thoughts we’ve repeated over and over in our heads.

These thoughts are sometimes known as negative hypnosis, as coined by Maxwell Maltz.

There’s great news.

Once you have done a search through your subconscious and can identify those thoughts and beliefs, you can replace or reverse them with more empowering suggestions.

For example abuse survivors have sometimes been given suggestions after the abuse to help try to normalize the behaviour.

This is why many people can basically live normally as years go on yet there’s a gnawing feeling inside that something’s not quite right and the memory recall can be suppressed.

Once they search their subconscious mind for the origin of these feelings, they can be addressed and cleared.

How To Reverse Hypnosis

Can Hypnosis Be Undone?

Clinical hypnosis is one of the best ways to uncover buried memories or reverse beliefs you were unaware you may have picked up from others.

Any suggestion you may not want any longer can be undone.

We all have memories or experiences in our subconscious mind that we don’t know or aren’t aware are there.

We don’t recall them yet they still play an important role in our behaviours and choices.

If you’ve done self-hypnosis and didn’t know enough about the technique, you may have given yourself an unintended suggestion, like adding aggression if you feel you’ve been bullied, for example.

The result may be that you get into fights and have legal issues as a result.

This is a suggestion you will want to reverse.

Regression in hypnosis is one of the techniques that can reverse a previous suggestion.

The therapist guides a person to distant points in time in order to search and uncover memories long buried.

This can help the person move through difficult situations they are now ready to question and reverse their old beliefs for new ones.

Can Post Hypnotic Suggestions Become Permanent?

The effects of hypnosis can become permanent and last a lifetime. This could depend on how susceptible you are to suggestions.

However, when a suggestion no longer benefits you or you’ve found that you’ve adopted suggestions or beliefs from someone else and you’d like to change this, it is possible.

Hypnosis works to open the door to the subconscious mind to find any

  • conflicts,
  • turmoil,
  • trauma, or
  • the hidden pain

to reveal connections between past events and feelings in your life now.

This can bring long term benefits for the person to become aware of their thoughts and beliefs that are making life difficult.

A lifetime of deep emotional blocks could take several sessions of treatment in order to search for and replace negative beliefs.

Much of the result depends on the person’s susceptibility to going into trance, how deep the engrained pattern in the person is, and the skill of the therapist.

How Do Hypnotic Triggers Work?

A post hypnotic trigger is a specific word, phrase or colour that triggers a response.

This trigger causes a person to react in a previously suggested way.

Take, for example, if you implant a trigger that suggests someone forgets their name when only you say “ginger root”, it will work if embedded well enough through repetition.

Their name would come back to them eventually.

However, consider a construction worker who wants to quit smoking and sees a lot of large machinery.

The effect of implanting a suggestion, everytime they see machinery, that they “notice how fresh the air seems”, or “how in control they feel”, or “they could notice how much strength they have to make it through the day without smoking”, can benefit them.

How Does Hypnosis, Brainwashing And Mind Control Work?

Hypnotherapy doesn’t use a coercive process to effect change.

Hypnotherapy is a joint effort by the hypnotherapist or coach and the client.

It’s a collaborative process.

Mind control, however, is a coercive process to make someone act or think a certain way by impairing their ability to think independently.

The idea is to manipulate someone’s critical thinking, emotions, behaviour or decisions without their consent or desired cooperation. Movies often portray a hypnosis session as mind control.

This is what happens in an act of stage hypnosis. In this stage act, volunteers are put into a deep sleep and told they’ll experience some unusual and bizarre phenomenon, yet no moral or ethical lines are breached.

Brainwashing is very different.

All these terms can seem confusing, yet a quick search and you’ll find they are each very different.

Brainwashing removes people’s free will and limits their ability to make choices to the effect of not being able to discern “true” reality.

Some techniques in use for brainwashing are confinement, sleep deprivation, torture, and drugs.

Brainwashing is more relegated to clandestine government programs.

Hypnotherapy techniques are carried out with someone’s free will and a qualified coach for the benefit of reaching that individual’s goals.

Your thoughts and beliefs have a powerful effect. Staying aware is always wise, yet it’s comforting to know that it’s possible to uncover what may be hidden in your subconscious so it can be healed.
