15-Day Confidence Challenge

Day 1: Unfollow Social Media Accounts that Make you Feel Insecure

I love social media. You probably do too.

It helps us connect, communicate and share what’s happening in our daily lives. However, social media has a dark side. With social media, you can go from feeling happy and relaxed to feeling like crap in just a few scrolls.

This degrading nature of social media tends to harm both your mental health and confidence.

Which is why one of the first things you should do to build your confidence is to unfollow social media accounts that make you feel less worthy and insecure.

It doesn’t matter who it is. Whether it’s your friends, family, or favorite celebrity, unfollow anyone whose posts result in negative feelings rather than positive ones.

Day 2: Get Rid of Negative and Unworthy Thoughts

Unfollowing social media accounts that drain your self-esteem gets rid of outside influences that affect your confidence.

On Day 2 of the challenge, you’ll now focus on dealing with internal negativity.

As you go through your day, remain mindful of any thoughts that kill your confidence. Anytime a negative thought pops up in your mind, record it (Whether on the phone or paper). At the end of the day, read through these negative thoughts and challenge them.

Create positive arguments for every negative thought recorded.

With this strategy, it’s important to note that you won’t get rid of all negative thoughts at once. You’ll have to perform this exercise every day for the challenge’s duration to see lasting changes.

Now that you understand how to deal with thoughts of “I am not enough,” let’s get into how to create a mindset of “I am enough.”

Day 3: Write Positive Affirmations

On Day 3 of the challenge, come up with at least five positive affirmations that you can say to yourself every morning.

Unlike negative self-talk, which leaves you miserable, sad, and with low self confidence, positive self-talk allows you to feel good about yourself and your life.

And here’s the best part!

When performed consistently, the mind naturally gravitates towards more positivity, resulting in more control and confidence.

Here are five examples of affirmations you can use to grow your confidence:

  • I believe in my abilities and skills.
  • I am worthy of all the good things happening in my life.
  • I am confident that, with the way things are going, I’ll achieve my goals.
  • I am smart, able, and competent.
  • I am continually growing and bettering myself every day.

Day 4: List your Best Qualities

What do you love about yourself?

Are you disciplined? Do you have a pleasing smile? Are you excellent at making presentations?

Are you a good friend?

It could be anything as long as it makes you feel like a great person.

On Day 4 of the self confidence challenge, think about three of your best qualities and write them. Put these in an open place where you can consistently see them.

You can also record yourself listing what you love about yourself. Whenever negative thoughts about yourself appear, listen to the recording of how great you are.

Day 5: Celebrate Past Achievements

This is a simple yet potent exercise for growing your self-belief. This is because thinking and celebrating past achievements results in positive emotions.

On day 5 of the challenge, vividly think about your previous achievements. This can be anything from passing an exam, managing to get a job interview, launching your business, or simply learning a new skill.

Spending day five while thinking about your achievements reminds you of your capabilities and prepares you for day 6.

Day 6: Think About Difficult Situations that You Overcame

Just like thinking about your past achievements, reminding yourself of how you overcame difficult situations can help you drastically grow your self confidence.

Thinking about difficult situations that you overcame helps to remind you of your resilience, strengths, and skills. This is especially important when facing instances of self-doubt due to setbacks and difficulties.

Spend day 6 of the challenge thinking about such challenging situations. This could be anything. From losing a job, going through depression, losing a family member, or your business collapsing.

Day 7:  Exercise

Ever met someone leaving the gym? How do they walk?

Most probably, it’s with their heads held high, shoulders back, and chest out. Right?

This is what exercise does to you. It makes you feel confident about your body. If your low confidence issues arise from your body perception, exercise is a great way to build up your confidence since it improves how you perceive yourself.

However, exercise is not a one-day thing. Start exercising on day 7, and make it a habit. One that you keep long after the confidence challenge ends.

Day 8: Read a Book

Now that you’ve started working on your body image, it’s time to start exercising your brain.

Since you’ll probably be sore from your exercise session on day 7, you can spend day 8 reading a book.

Reading results in several benefits. For starters, reading articles and books related to your career promotes confidence while at work.

On the other hand, reading fictional books improves your storytelling abilities, making it easier for you to strike and maintain conversations.

And that’s not all!

Self-help books offer tons of exercises to help improve your confidence. Reading a self-help book could help you improve on already established confidence habits or create new confidence habits.

Day 9: Do Something You’re Afraid of

Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”

And she was right.

The only way to build courage and confidence is by facing our fears and getting out of the comfort zone. .

So on day 9, do something you’re afraid of. It could be walking up to a stranger and striking a conversation, bungee jumping, or speaking up to a rude workmate.

Just take a step and face your fear.

Just like the day five challenge, setting and achieving a goal (even a small one) is bound to have an impact on your confidence.

Completing any of the goals you set is bound to make you feel empowered and, in turn, boost your confidence.

Day 12: Compliment Someone

You’re probably feeling confident by now.

Why not test out this confidence by complimenting a stranger on the street. Going to a stranger and complimenting them can be challenging. However, it’s a great way of starting a conversation and is also a great confidence builder.

Day 13: Stand Tall

Just like people coming from the gym, confident people walk with an upright posture, with their shoulders back and head high.

They seem relaxed and in tune with their environment.

For day 13 of the challenge, walk like a confident person. Stand tall and smile at people on the streets (I know it’s hard to do with this whole masks situation).

So, on day 14, learn to accept failure. Learn to see failure as a learning and growth opportunity rather than a setback. With this mindset, you’ll have the confidence to start working on your goals.

Day 15: Reflect

Your last day of the confidence challenge will entail a reflection of the previous days.

Go through your different lists. Can you make any changes to any of these lists after the 15 days? List your achievements for the 15 days.

Even the fact that you’ve completed this 15-day challenge is a significant accomplishment; hence a confidence boost.

And it doesn’t have to end after 15-days. Dedicate to working on your confidence consistently to ensure lasting effects as you work on your personal growth.
